He rākau roa nō te wao. He rite ki te kauri. Kei te rohe o te Tai Tokerau e tupu ana. E mata ana, he rite ngā rau ki o te tōtara. Kia pakari, kua pipiri te noho o ngā rau.

Scope Note

A tall tree resembling the kauri and, like it, found mainly in Northland. The young leaves are sharp pointed and narrow like those of the tōtara but the adult foliage is scale-like. Halocarpus kirkii.
