Scope Note

A distinctive large fish which floats at the sea surface. The colour is blue-black splotched with white. It has a laterally compressed disc-shaped body about 1.5 metres across with large triangular dorsal and ventral fins. The body is truncated after the dorsal and ventral fins. Mola mola.
